Q: My package did not include a micro USB cable; can I use one that I already have?
A: Yes, you can use any standard micro USB cable as long as it properly fits in the card's USB port.
Q: I've connected my Spreengs card to my Windows PC but I didn't get a pop-up message recognizing the "new hardware", what shall I do?
A: Open "Computer" or "My Computer" from the icon on your desktop or the Start menu from the bottom left corner of your screen and the Spreengs card should show up as a drive. Double click on the icon to access the various storage folders of your Spreengs card.
Q: I don't have a video camera; can I still enjoy a Spreengs card?
A: Absolutely! The technology in a Spreengs card is such that you can play a slideshow of some of your favorite photos, instead of a video. After having connected your Spreengs card to your computer, and having opened the card's content, double click on the folder entitled "PICTURES". You can then simply copy and paste the pictures for the slideshow into this folder and arrange them in the desired order. Now, when you disconnect the Spreengs card and open it, the slideshow of the desired photos should play instantaneously.
Q: What will happen if I have photos in the "PICTURES" folder and a video in the "VIDEO" folder?
A: The default material to be displayed on the screen of your Spreengs card is video content. Please note:
- If the only content on the card is an audio file, it will play on its own once the card is opened.
- If the only content on the card is photos, a slideshow will play on its own once the card is opened.
- If there is audio and photo content on the card (without any video content), these will be played simultaneously once the card is opened.
- If there is audio, photo and video content on the card, the video content will be played by default and the card will ignore the audio and photo content.

"Invalid file format" / "Format error" - Spreengs cards use the FAT file system to store and play video, photo and music files. This error message may appear on your Spreengs card screen after you have connected it to a Mac operating system. Some Mac OS versions can only support a FAT file system drive by automatically adding Mac OS system files to the drive. Because Mac OS will automatically add these system files, the Spreengs card will attempt to play these files first. Since these files are neither videos, photos nor music, the Spreengs card will give this error message.
TO SOLVE THIS ISSUE, the Spreengs card default software needs to reset to its factory condition for these Mac OS system files to be deleted. This reset process is achieved by formatting the drive – DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FORMAT YOUR SPREENGS CARD ON A MAC COMPUTER, as this may result in permanently damaging your card. Instead, you can use any Windows version to format your Spreengs card. Follow these easy steps to reset/format your Spreengs card:
Step 1: Connect your Spreengs card to a Windows based computer. A “Spreengs” drive icon will appear in your “Computer”
(or “My Computer”) window.
Step 2: Right-click the “Spreengs” drive and choose Format. A new window entitled “Format Spreengs” will appear.
Step 3: Make sure that these settings are selected:
- File System => FAT
- Allocation unit size => 4096 bytes
- Volume label => Spreengs
- Under Format options, Quick Format should be selected
Step 4: Click the Start button. A WARNING message will appear notifying you that Formatting will erase ALL data on this disk – click OK.
Step 4 (cont.): If you receive a message that states: This drive is in use. Another program or process is using this drive. Do you want to
format it anyway? – click Yes. (Note: this step may or may not occur)
Step 5: A Format Complete message will appear – click OK.
Step 6: Safely disconnect (Eject) and unplug your Spreengs card.
Step 7: Connect your Spreengs card to your computer and attempt to copy your files once again using only a Windows based PC. You should now be able to use your Spreengs card without receiving this error message.
If the problem persists, your video file(s) might be too large and must be converted to the recommended resolution. You can use our online VIDEO CONVERTER to resize your video, please go to this link to use our online tool: https://www.spreengs.com/convert-video
